GP-MC
RS485 Overview

The RS485 interface is used to collect data from remote
probes and sensors. These probes are connected to Remote Controllers that can communicate
with the GP-MC logger over distances of up to 200 meters. A number of these controllers
can be daisy chained together on the one RS485 interface. There are fifteen remote
channels available on the GP-MC that can be set to log data from probes and sensors on
remote controllers.

The GP-MC has 15 channels available for
logging remote probes via the RS485 interface. The Remote Probe
Controller (RPC) has 4 channels available, 3 analog and 1 fast pulse. The Remote Powered Probe Controller (RPPC) has 3 analog channels
available. The 15 logging channels on the GP-MC can be assigned to any of the available
input channels on controllers connected to the RS485 interface. So, for example, 15 Remote
Data Collection Controllers could be connected and the GP-MC could log one channel from
each or if 4 controllers were connected the GP-MC could log all 4 channels of 3
controllers and 3 channels from the final controller.
